We're pleased to announce the details for March's book clubs!
For Author Book Club, we will be reading Godmersham Park by Gill Hornby, and speaking with the author on Thursday 16th March 2023.
This book club runs both on zoom and in the bookshop, so please just buy your copy of the book (use code BOOKCLUB for 15% off) and we'll send you the details.
On 21 January 1804, Anne Sharpe arrives at Godmersham Park in Kent to take up the position of governess. Anne is neither one of the servants, nor one of the family, and to balance a position between the 'upstairs' and 'downstairs' members of the household is a diplomatic chess game. One wrong move may result in instant dismissal.
When Mr Edward Austen's family comes to stay, Anne forms an immediate attachment to Jane. They write plays together, and enjoy long discussions. Meanwhile Jane's brother, Henry, begins to take an unusually strong interest in the lovely young governess...
And from now on, Anne's days at Godmersham Park are numbered.
Our other book club, Boozy Books, will be meeting at The Mews, Wetherby on Thursday 2nd March at 7pm to discuss any books relating to the theme of ‘Classic’.
As always, everyone is welcome!
[FYI: Author Book Club includes a chat with the author, whilst Boozy Book Club is a more informal meet-up where we read a book based around a theme.]
